Isabella Currie is a sessional academic and PhD candidate at La Trobe university, specialising in international relations and political science. She holds a Bachelor of International Relations and a Master of Arts.

Isabella’s research revolves around the Wagner Group’s role in international relations. Her interests lie in exploring the complexities of foreign interference, authoritarian regimes, security, private and semi-state actors, and geopolitics. In particular, she focuses on the tools of authoritarianism and malign instruments of influence.

Isabella’s expertise extends to Yevgeny Prigozhin and the Wagner Group.  Through her research, she aims to unravel the intricate connections surrounding Prigozhin and shed light on the activities and impact of the Wagner Group on the global stage.

With a background in digital strategy complementing her expertise in international politics, Isabella has a keen interest in exploring the intersection of digital and cyber tools with the field of international relations. She is fascinated by the role of digital communication tools in contemporary political processes and their influence on societal decision-making.
